Budgeting Ahead for Your Sewer Connection As construction of our new sewer system progresses, a sewer district representative will contact new patrons concerning the date that sewer service will be available to their homes or businesses. New customers will have the following expenses: sewer impact fee, placing and hooking up the line between the home and the sewer district line, pumping out an existing septic tank, and filling the existing septic tank with aggregate. Lagoon owners will have to meet state requirements for taking those lagoons out of service. Costs for the placement and hookup to the district sewer line will vary depending on the distance from the house to the line. The sewer district will attempt, with patron support, to plan for lines to be as close as possible to the houses being serviced to minimize this cost. The sewer board recommends that patrons plan ahead for these costs using the general planning dates provided in this brochure. While exact costs will vary depending on distance, contractor rates, and the size of septic systems, the following table is an attempt to help new patrons plan for the approximate cost of connection.
Sewer Impact Fees were raised by $500 on January 1, 2007. The Board of Trustees is currently considering deferring the increase to those who signed Dry Creek easements until some specified date.
